Thank you for the marvelous music provided by Mick Gaffney and Uptown Swing, at our daughter’s wedding at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. You knew how concerned we all were about the acoustical nightmare inherent in the vaulted ceilings and stone walls of the Museum.

Well, Uptown Swing met the challenge brilliantly!

They set the tone at the cocktail hour playing great swing amidst the Rodin Statues – the trumpet gently and lovingly leading the bride (and her mother) into the waiting crowd. Their tone was upbeat and joyful, supporting and augmenting conversation.
At the dinner, the music was both celebration and mellow inviting guests to dance, let loose and remember all the while, keeping the party lively and inclusive. They really worked with the family wishes!

		We had both seen the band play at LeBarBat in the past and after seeing other bands, both at band showcases and on videos, we liked your band the best. Rob and I very much appreciate how you really listened to what we wanted and created the exact mood we were hoping for. As I mentioned to you, I have seen the band at a couple of other events and always thought you were great, but was looking for something a little more sophisticated yet still upbeat and fun for our wedding. Well, you gave us everything we asked for and more!

I can’t tell you how many guests have commented on the band’s performance. Your fan club literally grew by 165 people that night! I’ve been told time and again that our band was amazing, fantastic, versatile, energetic, the best I’ve heard at a wedding, and oh that Sinatra guy! Even my Dad thought you guys did an extraordinary job, which is the ultimate compliment. He always complains about the band at weddings – they’re too loud, they’re too showy, they only had a few good numbers. He LOVED you! Mostly, we were all impressed by your ability to play so many different kinds of music so exceptionally well and your knack for creating such excitement without overpowering the bride and groom.

Please let the rest of the band know how much we enjoyed them and we will certainly recommend New York City Swing to anyone we know having a wedding or other event in the New York City area – for our own selfish reason of wanting to hear you again, of course!
